What's up guys!
Wanted to know if anyone has a good idea for a cheap axle swap.  I want to get rid of those junk axles that come stock on 70's model Ramchargers. I put the part time 4X4 conversion kit from Mile Marker on the front axle with the transfer case parts, but those garbage press fit bearings suck .  What axle could I go to that would swap in easy, and be stronger than stock. I don't want to remove my right arm and left leg in order to do it.  Any suggestions?

I just bought a 75 Ramcharger this past weekend and have the same axles.  We will be swapping in a 14 bolt rear and a dana 60 front from a 70s chevy pick up. The width is the same and with a little fab work the heavier springs can be used as well. You can pick up rusted out old chevy's for under a grand. I got mine minus the motor for 200.

Any Dana 60 or 70 rear and any dana 60 from a 88 to 92 dodge ram cummins 4x4 will bolt right in e brake cables brake lines and all.many of these rears have stock centrifical lockers as a bonous and gears down to 6.16 are avalible.also try to get the 1 ton steering linkage that may come with them also if load capacity is your goal use the one ton cummins springs.

the dana 60 fronts and dana 60 or 70 rears out of any 89 to 92 cummins 4x4 will bolt right in to your ramwith no fab work and if you want the carrying capacity the one ton cummins springs bolt in also.

Kinda a newbie here but.....I know what ya mean with those bearings! They suck Big time when ya put bigger tires on. They've left me stranded more than once. So enough was enough, went to a local yard and bought front and rear for under $420.00 buxs. I successfully swapped in 83' axles (front & rear) with no prob's. Easy!!! Now I need to change R&P to somethin for 35"s.
They still have og 3.55's. They're okay for now since I'm runnin on 33's.
