I personally drive a 79 cj-7 and i would never put a "it's a jeep thing you wouldent understand" sticker on it for a couple of reasons 1. the only thing that other vehicale owners would not undestand is the fact that in a jeep if you ride open (top off) you get the open air sensation or wet sensation or cold sensation I live in texas and my jeep never has a top on NEVER (except mabey the bikini whe it rains) so I deal with what mother nature dishes no truck has that ability except mabey old blazers an broncos so truck owners don't understand 2. i wave at every jeep it is a jeep thing ya but other vehicle owners do it to but the point i'm making is that some times i wave becuse it is a jeep thing but sometimes i'm looking at the cheese puff next to me in his new wrangler that has never even spun a tire or gotten dirtty thinking what a #### some one needs to put him in a honda he might be driving a jeep but i cant consider it a real jeep if he drives it like a honda and 90% of the time I see those stickers it's on the cheese puffs jeep ya some times i see the stickers on what i consider a real jeep but seldom.
the saying i do belive in and do even say from time to time to my passangers is "only in a jeep" i drove a 78 blazer (rolled it in accedent) and a 1984 3/4 ton 4x4 chevy and there are certin things i can do in my jeep that no truck could do but their are also thing a truck can do that i cant
point being last week when my girl friend was looking threw the quadratec mag and asked me is i wanted a "it's a jeep thing you wouldent understand" sticker for christmas i said hell no

stickers that say things are for noobwheelers for the most part. you cant say my truck will outwheel any jeep.. i know of a few jeeps that would make that person look like a dumbass
you can build anything up really. jeeps start out better stock really but have a small junkyard backup.
i would never have a sticker trying to put down another automaker. thanks for not getting the jeep sticker from your girlfriend, good thing she asked tho.

you think you can take ur stock jeep where lifted trucks cant go . good great for u but i can take my moms yes my moms samurai with car size street tires and go where my friend goes in his lifted yj with 33s lockers and 5:18 gears can go so if u think ur jeep is a gpood wheeler stock try a sammi
and by the way a stock blazer or bronco is a way better wheeler than a jeep.

Never doubt the Samari, I use to wheel with a guy who had one. As long as it isn't a race, they are kinda hurting for ponies. It may take a while but the son of a gun would go just about any place.

had one yeah it went real good... but not better than a jeep on 33 or 35inch tires and lockers... just no way (same or like drivers)
sure it does good and goes places but it has its limits a lifted jeep has a little less.

Uh, DUH! Anything that has a lift and big tires should go places a stocker can't. Compare stock to stock it's a good match up.
Lift them and put the same tires on 'em and the Sam will go any place that a Jeep will!
And my '84 F-150 will hang with either of them!

you cant have a offroading jeep without Ford or Chevy parts! And I really like the idea of opening trails with your awsome bumper.

all trucks have there good points and bad points. when talking about how good a truck is, the most important thing to take into account is the availability of parts like others have hinted at. and remember to not take things so personally, it doesn't help when you just get defensive and don't bother to hear what points others are trying to make.

Wow this is an old thread, I just can't help but say a few things. First, those old 5 lug dana 60s are super rare. For going topless, you can't forget the FJ40s and first gen 4 runners. Ratings of trucks have changed over the years. The old M715's are rated as 5/4 ton as posted here but in comparison later model 4/4 tons have beefier axles (d80 for example). Also, toyota made some "1 ton" trucks that were not duallys. That axle would, though in a "1 ton" truck, barely be half ton strength if you were to compare it to a half ton truck today. And for "widening trails with your bumper", don't! Not with any part of your truck. I have seen many trails closed near me (in CO) because of that kind of "4 wheeling".

here's a bit for you too... engineering... the reason that those lip's are at the bottom of the doors is so that you maintain structural rigidity when running without doors... pickup trucks and other suv's aren't designed to run without doors... they loose alot of rigidity... the other thing... is the wheelbase... for some things the 120 + inch wheelbase of a pickup is great... but for others it's horrible... the wheelbase of a jeep is a kind of "best of both worlds" compromise... i'll agree... there are other rigs out there comparable... but that's not the point... jeep's also hold re-sale value better then most vehicles... due in part to the reliability and simplicity of their design... as for the mostly ford or chevy thing... when jeeps were first built for the military they were built by several manufacturers... but they were the only vehicle of it's type with interchangeable parts between all manufacturers specs. there have been several attempts to copy it in later years... but never quite as succesful... the modern SUV is due largely to the jeep... not the CJ line but the cherokee line... many people confuse it with the wagoneer... but it was in fact a full bodied cherokee which was the first true SUV and remained for nearly 30 years in the form of the wagoneer... there's alot of history behind this "Jeep thing" and it's not so much the "i have a jeep" thing... it's a this "jeep name" has a history like no other... it isn't the greatest vehicle ever built... it isn't the worst... but it's one hellofa rig even in stock form... which means that you have to include in this jeep "thing" alot of ford history too... it's survived through several buyouts and mergers, changed forms more then i care to count... and is still a reliable offroad vehicle from the factory... so i may not have the sticker (or ever care to have a sticker) but i do understand the "jeep thing"
p.s. my jeep is more dodge then jeep... just because they never offered a cummins in a jeep...
