I have a 90 xj, and i know that the "recommended" tire size for these axles is 33". i wanna run 35" tires. has anybody ran 35" tires with these axles? if so how do they hold up? i'm no going to go hard core crawling, just some medium duty trail stuff. i'm new to the trails and am really working off of a budget at this time. any input is appreciated.

                              thanx...

The 30 is marginal, but should hold up OK with 35" tires if you stay easy on it. The  rear 35 is only waiting to go *boom* though (31s is actually what's max for the D35 rear to be reliable).

Swap a D44 or Ford 8.8" out back and you'll be better off there.

BTW, you'll need lower axle gears to effectively spin those tires too (probably 4.56 or 4.88)

As long as you do not lock axles, 33's are okay. 35's are pushing it. Also like mentioned above, you need to regear axle for big tire but many handicap themselves and do not regear. Late 90's explorer 8.8's are a near bolt in for rear axle.
