its going to need more than a filter change!! The 700r4 is the weakest stock trans that chevy used. With a good tranny guy, it can be made to handle alot of abuse. it soounds more like it broke a clutch pack. The good thing is you can bolt in a turbo 350 tranny in its place. Bad thing is that its not an overdrive tranny. But they did make a turbo 350 with a lock up converter. on that tranny you would have to run the electrical into the cab with a switch on it so you could manually lock up to converter. You just have to remember to turn the switch off when you get into the slower speeds. The turbo 400 is longer that the 350 and 700r4 so you would have to change the drive shafts if you went that way. At good salvage yards you can pick up decent 350 and 350 lockups at pretty reasonable prices. Here i can get one for around 75 to 125 dollars. if the truck is other wise is good condition and the price is right go for it. one more thing, you might look into changing the engine to a bigger one, anything but a 305.

If you want a good selection id try a parts locator. One place that can find you a good short or long block for a Audi A4 engine is TEXAS Junkyards, Junk Yards in TEXAS TX salvage recycler. They have a link somehow to multiples of thousands of recycling centers and will locate the best one for you.
