I saw a picture of a Nissan Patrol today. I was told they are not sold in America. Does anyone know different? I would like to know if it is possible to get one. I would like more information on it.

As far as I know, they are not sold in the US. You can find some used one for sale from older once to recent ones. I would be best to try and find one for sale here in the US rather than try and get one imported.
Here are a few sites to check out with info: http://groups.msn.com/NissanPatrolClubAlbuquerque/homepage1.msnw http://www.patrol4x4.com/forum/
Also check out www.nissanoffroad.net as there are a number of people there that can guide give you more info.
I also would love to have an old school Patrol and upgrade it with some modern components to take some offroad abuse. You never see these on the trail out here in the US, so it would be cool to be one of the only ones to have one.
Good luck!

Nissan Patrol's are sold here in the UK, they are considered a large SUV, and have an excellent reputation for reliability, and are one of the best 4x4's out of the box. Early models came with a basic selectable 4x4 system and a 4.2 litre diesel engine, but these were replaced by the newer models in the mid 90's. The latest models have a 3.0 litre diesel engine called an M-fire engine, this fires after top dead centre, and not before top dead, this reduces emissions and is an evolution of engine design. It has selectable four wheel drive and is manually selectable, it is a durable transmission, and simple. It is fitted with locking differentials as standard, and has an electrically disconecting anti roll bar (sway bar), this improves its on highway ride, but gives tremendous suspension travel off road. They retain solid axles on long travel coil springs, and can be easily modified or lifted, but no one bothers uprating axles over here as they are virtually bullet proof. Patrol's are notorious for their reliability, when one does actually go wrong, it is an event; this is why they sell well over here, especially for those wanting true off road ability, rather than a lifestyle type vehicle; which simply looks the part. Being such a tough reliable vehicle, many of the expedition preparation companies convert them for long range driving expeditions worldwide.
