first hi, im a newb here. yay! anyway, i thought i would ask you chevy gurus what chevy truck im lookin' for to get a transfer case to directly bolt up to a th350 auto trans. im guessing i need the np203 that drops on the drivers side and has the four bolt set up to mate w/ the th350 and NOT the eight bolt "race track" set up that dumps on the passenger side. This is for a 350 jeep conversion. i finished building my 5.7L, bought a TCI th350 from jeggs, now i need a t-case. i DONT want to use my chrysler np231 w/ an adapter (adapter is $485 bucks)but would rather use a direct fit t-case. and it needs the drop on the drivers side. So,.....what truck do i look for in the bone yards??? thanks in advance!

Good luck on drivers side drop. Not going to find a 203 like that. I would stick with a NP231HD The HD version is factory beefed up 231 with planetaries from a 241. Not sure why you when with a old THM 350 either as a Raptor 700R4 would have been a far better choice here big time. I do have a major concern here in that it sounds like you are trying to adapt a 2wd style tranny which is not wise at all because tranny meant for 4x4's have a much heavier case casting to control/capture Tcase counter torque and send it to engine and engine mounts. Using a 2wd tranny can result in tranny case failure/breakage when playing hard.

w/ the 700R4, what t-case would i use then? i can always sell the th350. but i need a drivers drop. does the 700R4 have a t-case like that? And several jeep "modders" have used NEW th350 with beefed up intrenals and moderatly rock crawl w/ no problem.....true alot of them use atlas t-cases. And i could axle swap the front out to a passenger pig, but that sounds more expensive than the adapter plate from the th350 to my chrysler np231. Finally my choice to run w/ the th350 was cost to complete the engine getting into the rig. the th350 only ran me $8 bills.

700R4 were bolted to NP241 with driver side drops for front axle in 88 to 92 GM trucks. There is kinda a brain"lock" with many on 700R4 and they retro to a inferior THM350 for wrong reasons. These same people believe in tall or stock gears with big tires and this combo is bad for a 700R4 in OD. They do not look at begger picture in that with a 700R4 they cannot only run much deeper axle ratios than possible with a THM350 (because of its 30% OD) but you also couple with that the deeper first gear on 700R4 and can boost wheel torque 50 to 60% in first gear with same cruise RPM in top gear. When you look at a 700R4 as a 4 speed tranny and not just a OD tranny and gear it proper you will have no problems with it and will be rewarded with overall performance not possible with any 3 speed auto.
