My father has a 67 jeepster commando with a 6cyl.  He wants to get rid of the transmission and put a 700r4 in it.  Would it be hard to do or is he getting way over his head.  

Getting over his head. Not 700R4 is going to bolt yo its engine without some adapting plus tranny is a lot longer too which means moving Tcase and shortening rear drive shaft and lengthening front one too.
