you need a lot of stuff your better off getting another 350 or even a 250 for parts it could be cheaper and you can referance back how the factory did stuff

The biggest problem I know of is the difference between the 2WD and 4WD frame. I think the 2WD was a big crossmemember in the way of where the front diff needs to be. It's more complicated than just slapping a xfer case and front axle under the frame. Unless you have some serious fabrication skill or a lot of money tied up in your current truck, you will probably be money ahead by selling your current truck and buying a 4X4. Another possiblity is finding a donor 4X4 frame and putting your body and drivetrain on it.

in other words just get a 4x4 or be happy with your 2 wheel its more work than its worth ... get a 1504x4 and swap in your motor and rearend and get a dana 60 for the front could be cheaper This forum is for wheelers not street trucks that like it dirty.

the front crossmember will be a issue unless you have alot of lift. you could build a 60front but question is what type of link system. *** coilover suspension or air bag system and what shocks. Oil pan is exposed and easy to get to on 4wd and 2wd has a crosmember in way. Header issues will be a problem. I once bought a set of hooker super comps for my 2wd 460 and they still didn't fit correctly. Pulled motor 5 times for proper clearance mount clearance off of frame. 4wd frame is easier to deal with and header selection is a lot better. Also tranny mounts and transfer case mounts. divorced tranny set up or not divorced???? I currently run a 77ford with 4 linked dana 60 front with airbags. Love it. Home built and still building. Dana 70 rear leaf sprung. 472 bigblock with lnl headers outside frame. C-6 trans low gear kit.
