I talked about this before but all i was told to do was a get a nv4500 and all the correct adapters to put it in. well i looked around and actually couldnt find an adapter to my np241 for the nv4500,i just could be blind but no luck for me. plus on a college budget that tranny cost to much for right now, does anyone know what or if the 91 blazers came with a manual and if so what kind was it. i really just want a strait drive for fun but want it to handle how i drive and the abuse of off road.

oh yeah one other thing, how do i find out what my axle ratio is cuz i am considering a regear to put 33's. i know that is not much up from 31's stock, but that is plenty of tire for what i do if not i want 35'5 but i still want to be able to be somewhat quick and not feel sluggish and lose my few mpg's that i do have

hey ive got a 78 blazer with 35s and i was going to do the same swap but after i started looking i realized this wasn't going to be a ceap swap, the nv4500 is a great tranny and comes with a great price too!!, about your t case im not sure about 241 but i think there are adapters to mate it to a np 205, instead of that swap, i took out my th350/203 combo and put in a 700r4/208 combo which is almost what you have now, im happy with it for now i hope tranny lasts a while untill i can save up money for a bulletproof rebuild so it will handle offroad use and such, but i sure wish i had a 5 speed stick but its just too expensive and more complicated for my case, and in 91 i don't think chevy offered the blazers with a stick shift and as for your gears i suggest 4:10s or 4:56 for 33-35 inc tires for street biased use.

Solid axle chevys can't be beat!

Axle ratio is listed inside glove box on option code sticker. It will be like a GU6 or GT4. As far as adapters, none listed because you do not need one if you use a GM 4500. You will need a bellhousing for 4500 though and there are two styles for your SB 92 to 95 and 95 to 06 (BB and SB have same bolt pattern, 4.8/5.3/6.0 is a bit different.) Style must match year/style tranny. Personally, I would slap in some 4.56 gears and keep you current tranny as that year 700R4 is pretty reliable and it has a taller OD than 4500 and will hold up fine if you gear axle proper and add a small aux cooler. The "trick" to long life with a 700R4 is axle gears and proper cooling. Do this and it is quite reliable.

yeah, my car has 200+ thousand miles and i just had the tranny rebuilt in august 2007 so it has plenty of life in it, maybe only 10 thousand miles on it. i am just a stupid college student determined on a 5 speed. so the nv4500 will fit right on my transfercase  and into my blazer if i get the right bellhousing? that might be why i couldnt see one, and the sticker says gu6. know where i could look up what it stands for cuz i am curios to know what they are?

GU6 is a 3.42 which is a pretty poor gear ratio to have in a 4x4 with OD tranny even before you put bigger tires on it. I would suggest that you consider swapping out axle gears before tranny if funds are limited because you will get a LOT of bang for your buck with a gear swap! You will think you had a engine transplant.

i definetly want to do that first, the 5 speed is just something i want. for 33's 4:10' or 4: 56' gears, what do you think and know of a good locker cuz that would be nice for the rear, except i am scared due to the fact that is a 10 bolt rear end and heard bad stories

for 33s im gonna say 4:10s cuz it sound like your going to be driving more on the street than offroad but snomans probabley gonna say 4:56 which would be great for a lot of take off power and plenty of tourqe all the time but its gonna run a bit higer rpms on the highway than you may like and for a locker im really nervous too, i had a locker in my old 12 bolt that came with my blazer, i broke it first trip out with only 33 inc tires, ive since then swapwed in 10.5 14 bolt axle, but if you take it easy and go with a limited slip diff you shold be fine, there are so many limited slips just look for one in your price range

You do not want 4.10's with 33's with a 700R4. Maybe with a 3 speed but not with a tranny with a 30% OD. You want 4.56's here. Many are hung up on 4.10's as carry over from old non OD days but those days are gone. Even with 4.56 you will only be turning about 2100 RPM at 60 which is about right. Much taller and OD is not going to work very well at times and too low of RPM does not help MPG either.

4.56's dont sound that bad due to the fact it would help on  the highway seeing as i drive around 75 ish constantly at maybe 2600 to 27 roughly and feels so sluggish, but i also think a blazer can a sports car sometimes, it scares my friends.lol
