i got an 88 K5 blazer with a 350 tbi motor it surges erradically between 1500rpm and almost stalling, but it doesn't always do it, sometimes shutting it off and starting it back up will make it run normal, it also coughs and sputters sometimes when giving it throttle, but not all the time
any help would be excellent

You might start with check the thick gasket between TBI unit and intake. They are know to fail with age. I had one go bad several years ago and it did all kinds or strange things at times.

check the map sensor.  sounds something like that since it will get better just by recranking it. unhook the vaccum line going to the map and connect a hand pump if you have one and see if the way it runs changes, careful not suck to much pressure on it if you do try it.
