Hi guys

I did a V8 swap on a 86 S10 Blazer. I attached a newly rebuilt 700R4 to a newly rebuilt 305. The transmission seemed to go into all gears fine. My son started building a house six months ago,so I stopped on the Blazer project and helped him. Now I am trying to finish my project. I don't know anything about automatic transmissions. The Blazer seems to go into all forward gears fine but neutral and reverse feel the same. Could it be a stuck valve from sitting? Is there any way to unstick a valve? The Blazer has less than 5 miles onit since I did the engine swap. Thanks for any advice.

Check your manual shift linkage to be sure it is actually going into reverse position.    Make sure the TV valve is adjusted properly.  There are about seven different areas in the 700R4 that could cause it to not go into reverse.  I would take it back to the rebuilder if possible.  If that is not an option, get a GM service manual and a unit repair manual for info on this transmission.  Here is a link on the 700R4 overhaul:
