I have always been a big Chevy fan and always will be at least for the late 60's to 80's Chevy trucks. I have owned a '64 & '65 Chevy II Nova and a 84 Chevy pickup, all were great vehicles. Somehow I got myself off track and bought a Ford Ranger 4x4, how stupid of me , my brain must have been on drugs! Some of my friends drove Fords and I used to joke with them about there junk, and they said that Chevys were junk. I used to tell them to meet me out on Route 40 and we will race to see who really has the junk vehicle. Well guess what?, Chevy won!! One of these days I will buy another Chevy and only Chevy and never look back!  BOWTIE TILL I DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AHMEN brother......I agree, Chevy's rule, I also made the mistake of buying a FORD once....once!

I don't know much about the new stuff, I put it in a different catagory, until I got 50 G to through at a truck, I'll stick with the older chevs. Maybe someday a 3500HD will be in my price range!

Chevy hot rods rule too, I had a 77,Z28 with a hypo 396, 4 speed, the thing was nuts, 4th gear rubber, had to sell it before it killed me!

Anyways cheers to all the chevy nuts

Chevy Rules !!! I have to agree with you on the 60's to 80's products. I've owned two K5's both '77's. Never had any major problems. They don't like to be rolled over though. I also had two 70's Nova's They wer both beaters, but I could light up the tires on 'em without even trying, a 305 and a 350. Also had a '77 chevy Malibu as a family car. Never had a problem with it either. Company trucks I have no choice over what they get. The Ford trucks don't go as long as the Chevy's before something goes wrong. Newer than 80's though it's getting to be about the same asfar as quality of parts & durability, but then the parts are all foreign manufactured, so that explains everything. Neither Ford of Chevy are American anymore, theyre just assembled here. I'll never buy a Ford product again either. I Made the mistake of buing a '92 Ford Taurus and I paid for that mistake with a vengance!  Never Again!!

If funds were not as tight as they are right now for me, ( trying to save up some money to buy a house ) I would try to find a 80's or earlier Chevy Blazer or pickup 4wd of course and get rid of my piece of crap Ford Ranger 4x4. But for the next year or so I will just have to deal with it. A good thing is it has never left me stranded. Maybe I should knock on wood after saying this. To all you CHEVY FANS,THE OLD BOWTIE WILL NEVER DIE    YEE HAA!!!!!

Hey man, Iv'e owned and wheel'd them all.  I'm with ya on the bowtie thing. They are awesome. But, on the other hand I've got an 88 ranger and to my surprise it's pretty capable. I just cant seem to kill it. All i'm sayin is don't consider yourself stupid for buyin that ranger, beat the crap out of it and see what you think.

I use to allways tell myself that I will buy nothing but a Chevy. I don't know what I was thinking of when I bought a Ford. My cousin Joe had a early 80's Ranger 4x4 and a 93 Ranger 4x4 and both of them looked very cool to me. I guess this was the turning point for me to buy a Ranger 4x4. In some ways it's not a bad truck, but in other ways I'm not too happy with it. O well, live and learn!

I don't want to beat the crap out of it because right now it's my daily driver. The truck right now is basically stock other than a K&N filter and a 2.25 inch high flow exhaust system. This spring or summer I plan on putting on 31x10.50x15 Trxus Mud Terrains on 15x8 Pro Comp black rock crawlers, Rancho RSX shocks and maybe crank the torsion bars up just a little. If I decide to keep it a little bit longer I might put a rear locker in it.

I don't know too much about the new Chevy's, but I do have one complaint about the heavy duty Chevy's and GMC's. I don't understand why they would put an IFS front suspension on the 4wd models. That doesn't sound heavy duty to me. My brother in-law has one of those heavy duty trucks. I crawled underneath of it one day to check it out, the front suspension looks like it would break very easy if you took it off road. It does have a nice beefy frame and 14 bolt rear axle and a driveshaft about as big around as my leg. Does anybody know what the transmission choices are in this truck and what kind of transfer case does it have? It's a 2004 GMC 2500 HD with a 6.0 gas V-8

Hey thats awesome. I'm glad youre not totally against it. Those Truxs M/T tires work really well. Oh, if thats a 7.5 rear end, watch it with that locker. Them axles are sissys.

Yeah, when I was looking for a Ranger to buy I really wanted the 4.0 V-6, but when your looking to buy something used its not always possible to get everything that you want in a truck. I looked for about a year to find what I really wanted, but could not find everything that I wanted in a truck including price. The repair manual that I bought for the Ranger said that all these trucks had the 8.8 rear axle in it. Well this wasn't the case with my Ranger as my friend had a 4.0 Ranger and I noticed his rear diff. was different than mine. I crawled under my truck and lo and behold it had a 7.5 rear axle in it. I was originaly thinking of putting a Powertrax locker in it if they made one. I'm not too sure if the 7.5 rear axle could survive with a locker in it either.

I own 1 of each a 84' Ford Ranger and a 85' Chevy S10 Blazer. My ford is no good for wheelin' but like you said it has never left me stranded. O' but wait the pos has more than once, but that is ok once my Blazer is finished the Ranger is gone. Also like you said 'BOWTIE TILL I DIE'
