I have a 97 tahoe with 9inchs of lift and 38 swamper tsl. I love to wheel in the mud. This past weekend I sucked some mud and water into my airfilter. I was wondering if any of yall know of a snorkle application that will work on obs gm trucks.. I dont want it to be rednecktified. I want it to look good!
Any help will be appriciated

Actually you need more than just a snorkel. Rerouting intake air is not hard but you need to be waterproofing starter and bellhousing if it gets in slop much. Need to raise vent lines for axles, tranny and Tcase too.

i have all the vent lines extended..... how can i go about water/mud proofing the starter and bellhousing?

I need to do this but really how is it possible?

I had to replace my starter in the mud also

It is quite possible but it will take a little work. First you need to unbolt tranny from engine and slid it back far enough to be able to glean both surfaces. While you have it moved back you need to drill a hole in bellhousing for a vent line. Figure on at least a 3/8 inch ID vent line. (more on why later) Apply a silicone sealant to both sides of engine to bell housing and wait about 10 or 15 minutes and then mate it together. Just snug it lightly for now. Next clean surfaces for lower converter cover and apply sealant to it too and lightly snug it down. Now remove starter (if you have not already) and inspect it for all possible leakage seem and clean and seal them with silicone/RTV and apply silicone to all mating surfaces and install starter just lightly snugged and check for uncovered gaps. After it sits overnight, go through and snug all the bolts down. (the reason for tightening it later is that it does not push all sealant out of joints before it sets up and it seals better tightening it later) Now the reason for the vent, What happens is that as engine runs and tranny heats up bellhousing area the air in it expands a lot and vents out but when you get it in water the housing suddenly cools and the air inside contracts and it sucks air/water/mud in anywhere it can to equalize pressure. One of these first places is starter. Between sealing and vent line when pressure drops with sudden cooling it does not suck replacement air anywhere but through vent line. Converter covers usually has a drip hole in it and you can install a self tapping bolt in there to seal it and remove it from time to time to see how well you have sealed it.
