i have a 99 old body style chevy 350 5.7 and im looking to modify/re-do my exhaust system on my truck. right now it has JBA headers going 2 cats then to 2 flowmaster 40 series mufflers then out the rear of the truck. ive noticed that when i go through alot of water like a stream or lake, even though i am giving the truck gas it still seems to get water up the exhaust. i have another truck same engine with one flomaster 40 series then just turn down pipes. it sounds good but i want this other truck to sound better. i want the loudness but it needs to be as deep as possable. the system i like best on trucks i think is the 5.3 chevy with one dynomax muffler then a turn down. im not real familiar with all kinds of exhausts but i just want somthing that adds alot of power, sounds loud and deep and wont let water in. so if you could tell me what size pipes to get, what muffler/s where to have the exhaust come out(back of truck, underneath etc.) and so on. price is no issue, i just want a good exhaust
THANKS

i have 96 chevy with that same motor. on it i was running headers running into one cat back to a 40 series muffler. and then to the back of the truck. then the cat went bad and i took it off.(very illegal). its all 2.25" pipe. its got a nice deep tone and its still loud with no cracking. in my opinion a big bonus. trucks with no mufflers sound shitty. when i get another truck im running the exhaust the same way. so id say run it that way

Leave the cats alone, they are there for a reason, and throw on a Flowmaster 10 series race muffler... that should get you your fix of loud...

i wasnt saying take the cats off. i had to either replace them or take it off. and i dint have the money. so i took it off. leave them alone. unless you want to take them over. ive heard them with two mufflers(super 40s). sounded like a mustang. not for a truck if you ask me...
