I HAVE A 1984 MILITARY K-5 BLAZER. I HAVE A SET OF 36IN SUPERSWAMPERS I WANT TO USE ON THIS TRUCK. CAN THE FRONT AND REAR 10 BOLT AXLES TAKE IT? AND WILL THEY FIT WITH NO LIFT? I HAVE SEEN OTHER GUYS GO UP TO 38IN TIRES WITH THESE AXLES. IS IT JUST A TIME BOMB? IF I CANT USE THEM WITH THESE AXLES, HOW INVOLVED IS IT TO SWAP OUT TO 3/4 OR 1 TON AXLES. I'M A TECH BUT I DONT WANT TO START A HUGE MODIFICATION PROJECT BUT I WANT TO USE THE TRUCK. ANY INPUT WOULD BE GREAT THANKS! ALSO, EVER HERE OF HERITAGE MUD TIRES? WHO MAKES THEM?

People that run 38's on 10 bolts are flirting with disaster on a full sized truck. You are fairly okay up to 35 you do not lock axles. Bolts made after 89 have .1 inch bigger axles and stronger splines too. On 3/4 ton axles, up front it is same as 1/2 ton axle except for hubs. It you limit it to 35 and do not lock it it should last for a while. Then you have to worry about tranny life if you do not bother to regear axle properly for tires too.

OK SO IF I DO SWAP THE AXLES, WOULD U JUST SWAP THE REAR TO A 14 BOLT AND GEAR THEM THE SAME. I HAVE A 1984 3/4 TON WITH A 10 BOLT FRONT AND 14 BOLT REAR THAT IVE BEEN WHEELING FOR YEARS WITH 36 IN TIRES AND NO PROBLEMS.

Rear axles tend to be the weak links with big tires as they tend to handle higher torque inputs at times. With you swap, you can swap both axle or you can merely swap hubs on current front axle is ratios match as it is same from spindle back.

I have an 87 chevy with 38s and a 10 bolt and the axle lasted about 10 min off road i would suggest a 14 bolt for 38s
