Alright guys. I will admit it, I'm not a Jeep man but I want your Dana 300. Simply for the Terra Low 4:1 rebuild kit and the lack of chain drive. I own a 71 Bronco. My problem is that the front drive shaft is on the passanger side on the D300 and my front differential is on the driver side. Can I mount the D300 upside down? I don't have one yet but I would like to know before I try the "Trial and Error" way and possibly be wasting my time and money.

If you mounted it upside down the front output shaft would be in wrong place. Perhaps you are talking about using front output shaft to hook to tranny as this is a common conversion for Jeeps that had a Q trac Tcase in them but then you wind up with both output shafts on passenger side of vehicle. ALso the problem with these inverted feed is that they really are not as strong as when used normally because all engine torque must go thru idler shaft and gears when normally it averages much less.

I read in a magazine a man used a Dana 300 in his bronco and I was wondering if he just rotated it 180 degrees to get the front output on the driver side. Or did he use a Wagoneer or Scout front axle. I know I can mount it upside down, but will it still lube right? Is there a vent on top? Will there be anything that I should know about it first? I am not going to mount the front output shaft to the tranny. I'll stick with my D20 before I do that.
