chevy 10 bolt rear axle ....

can some one tell me if it is possible to replace the rear bearings in the axle with out a press , is it something that can be done in a driveway or not ? i got someone saying it can be done !need to know before he messes my *** up ... please let me know

Which bearing are you talking about? If it is a wheel bearing, you do not need a press to change those.

if your talkin about carrier bearings you will need a press

no you do not need a press for any bearings on a 10 bolt. i just rebuilt mine and did not use a press. i dont have one.

if you are rebuilding the carrier you will need to set the backlash though. so you will want to measure the lash before you take it out and reset when your carrier goes back in. randys ring and pinion has a set of carrier shims for cheap. good luck
