Been that Rodeo's are not over abundant in power with up install bigger tires on it with a lift it is going to take a big performance hit. ALso if you leave it stock, it will take a fair amount of abuse and live.

Independent 4x4 has some good prices on lift kits for the Rodeo. 1st gen's have large wheel openings and you may squeeze some 32's in there for about 2" just from the tire swap. Manual trannies have a fair power band in the mid range for fun in the outdoors. On the extreme end, you could throw a vortec 4.3 under the hood and amaze your friends. It is a Chevy after all.
