I was wondering what negative consequences, if any, would result from me removing the belt driven air pump on my 1988 K5 with a 350.Emissions are not a concern but i am more worried about power and mpg. I would leave it in but i think i have broken off part of the lower bolt and do not think i can extract it in order to tighten it all the way.  Thanks.

Any power or MPG gain will be very very minimal.

i disconnected a "smog pump" from a vehicle that i owned awhile back and had no issues, the emissions were even ok. just be sure to plug any open exhaust openings when you remove the air line.
