its about finding someone to rebuild my 1974 chevy K20 <--i just learned that!!!!! ha! I am stationed in hawaii and going back to iraq for a 4th tour of duty. My truck is in lubbock tx the guy i was going to have work on it wants 6000 dollars (no thats not a mess up with the zero's) just to start with the engine. I think thats kind of steep. when i worked in a garage it cost about 1500 not 6000. so if anyone can help i would like to hear back from you

thanks

Wouldn't it be better to wait until you get back so you can keep up with it?  I spent a year in Iraq and was getting my house remodled while I was gone. Let me tell you it was a disaster, between the wrong *** being done and overcharges, I would recommend waiting.

I would wait also. When you mean rebuild, the whole truck or just engine or paint or interior?? If you knew the right guy it might be different but that doesn't happen a lot anymore. I help out some of my local military guys especially devil dawgs. I understand their situation and help when I can. Former Marine!!

For that kind of money you can just buy one already built then customize it to fit you. Thats what I did after I got back from 17 and a half months in Afghanistan. I paid $8000 for my toyota, mostly built to my satisfaction.
