Saw this ad on craigslist thought i would post for all those who keep wanting to put huge tires with their stock 1/2 ton rearends.
I have a 1993 K1500 Ext. Cab Chevy with a 350 5.7L engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. It has a 6" trailmaster suspension lift with edelbrock shocks in the front and trailmaster shocks in the rear, and a 3" body lift. It has 38X15.5x15 Super Swamper tires. It had a broken rear axle but I replaced it.

well, the bow tie make's everything else fall apart, and i'm not sure but year and model odds are it's not running the same axles as a ford. or dodge. especialy in the rear...... So your point is?

the problem is poor maintenance... most likely he had water in his diff and didn't service his rig like a true off road enthusiast should have done... don't confuse brands with stupidity

well, first off i was just ragging on the chevy cause i get to deal with chevy guys ragging on my fords. its just good ol' fashioned fun. and big tires are the way to go off road. i've got a ford 7.5" ford rear end and a dana 28 holding up to 38s. and i've only popped a hub thats it. i know i need bigger axles and want them but im on a budget.

i'm glad you mentioned that. cause i do wheel hard but the axle snapping stuff like hard core rock crawling is not around my area. and like i said i want bigger axles but cant fit it in my budget now, so i made a choice to wheel and yeah keeping it resonable on the throttle. but i can still rev it up to 4 grand and pop the clutch and spin those puppys as much as i want. did i mention the 7.5 is welded and still no issue with that axle.

You sure seem deffensive about your axles and your wheeling ability. Maybe you should accept the fact that Chevy is better and leave it at that. lol

all you guys are right if wheel hard enough you can break anything. my truck is proof of that because i have broken half ton axles and 3/4 ton axles and one ton axles. probably the reason he hasn't broken anything is not enough power. and yes usafchevy i agree chevy's are the toughest.
