I thinking about buying an '04 Tacoma 4x4. I'll do a little offroading with it but not to much. Can someone tell me the axle gear ratio of a stock Tacoma?
If at 1st you dont succeed grab 2nd and gas it!

It is going to depend on engine and tranny combo but rest assured that what ever the ratio is it will not be proper for a lift and bigger tires unless you want reduced performance and increase drive line strain too. No vehicle made by any car maker is properly geared for over sized tires but some seem to think that they are.

yeah I might lift it a couple but the biggest tires i'll run on it is 31s just because I'll be doing some off roading. When I do I'll look for better gears.

Just to give you an idea :

Your truck probably came with 4.10 gears, and 4.56 would be ideal for your 31's.
