both are good choices, the yamaha has very little rear suspension travel and can be harsh if yer taking it airborn, the crf80 may be a little large for ya yet. the best thing to di is make a trip to a powersports store and sit on em for size and remember if yer not gonna competitevely race, yer gonna out grow a small bike quickly.

the real answer is KTM...

oh yeah what mud said is so true, my firt bike was an xr 100r when i was 13, way too small of a bike as i outgrew it in less than a year, for one i grew tall really quick and too i got used to the power in like a month than i was really bummed after that i maybe a big leap to a 450 when i was like 14! yeah i could't really contol it but gotta love that power and with time comes control  so i suggest one of those smaller racing ktms cuz their small but pack plenty of balls!!

obviously none of your friends were on a ktm.

honda is a good bike, in the mini moto world they are a little behind,...

I've been racing my entire life, since the age of 4, the ktm is what ya can depend on.

the ktm has a wild power band.
as I said above you'll out grow a small bike so fast you'll barely get to ride it.

For a first bike I have to recommend a Honda. I've seen alot of my cousins grow up on them (50, 70, 85, 100, 250) and they have all been very reliable and not overly powerful but still rideable, if that makes sense to you. I'd probably pick up a used XR70, learn to ride, then move from there.

First of all you gotta decide on what kind of riding you want to *** Are you planning on racing or just trail riding it...  If you're gonna go moto, and you are 11, consider the new CRF150R...  You would be stuck riding in the mini sr class or the school-boy class anyways and the four stroke bikes knock the socks off those high revving two strokes!!  As far as trail riding goes, the tamer bikes such as the tt-r series bikes and the CRF-F series bikes would be a good start for ya...
