I have an idea for an engine swap for in a sammy. I have a running engine from a 1988 Plymouth Reliant car (I have the complete car) but my question is does anybody know what tranny might be needed as well as any other parts.?

why not use a toyota motor or a sidekick they have been done before and are a lot more common for parts in part stores and junk yards.  with the toyota you can use the tranny from the yota.  There are kits to mate a sidekick motor to a sammi tranny.  or the better route is to get a VW diesel and put it in.

Yes but we must also do what is practical too because just because we have it, it does not always make it very viable.

Some wise man once told me it's never good to start a build around one part because it's cheap of free. In the end it will cost you more money and it may not exactly be what you want. I have found this to be true in most cases. Whichever way you go good luck.
