Hi everybody, i have an old f250 custom dont let the name "custom" fool you,its nothing special....well in my eyes it is. Anyway the custom series is basically the xl but a workin mans version (for ranches or farms) it was accually used as an old logging crummy. My dad replaced the old axle about ten years ago, but im trying to fing out what axle is in the rear, im thinking its a 10.75 or a dana 60. What i want to know is how to puta 6-12 inch lift on it....the problem is it has the old dana 44 ttb(twin traction beam) in the front with leaf springs not coils like all the other models.I was thinking i could put some old chevy 3/4 ton leafs on the front but i heard putting aftermarket leaves on it but i heard they have allignment problems if you do that.PLEASE any knolledge on this topic would be MUCH apprichiated.

It likely has either a D60 or 10.25 Sterling in rear. I am leaning toward D60. (in link below you will find a GM ID guide for Axle ID-ing that has a D60 and D70 on it). Up front, singe you have leafs I would scrape the TTB (which is a poor front end anyway for serious off road) And swap in a solid axle. It will not be as hard with that truck as with a coil spring setup and well worth the effort. BTW, "Custom" has long stood for stripped or basic no frill work trucks. GM used that term same way in past.
