Here's a question ... 350 (stock) with holley carb, was running fine then started to stahl when in gear waiting at a stop sign or light. There is a fitting behind carb that mounts into the intake and has suction. It's also right infront of the distributer. Now I have a 700r4. Does the trans need a vacuum line hooked up? I believe that other tranys get vacuum from the fitting that I have open. I have been try'n to research the 700r4 and have found where some info says that it gets a vacuum line hooked up and have also found where it doesn't. Can someone help me out.

No vacuum is used on a 700R4. A vacuum leak is not good though and needs to be capped.

Any ideas why truck stahls when put in gear? It doesn't matter if I cap that fitting or not and since it started doing the stahling thing it doesn't seem to run right, sorta like it has a miss. I changed coil, checked the plugs, and am about to put new wires on it.I plan on using some carb cleaner to spray around intake to see if the intake is leaking but not sure if it would make it act like it is. I'm hoping that the trans doesn't have a problem, this is my second 700r4 the first one I delt with I had in a blazer with to much hp and blew the trans up.

since you fixed your vacume leak. Now did you adjust your air bleed screw on the front bowl. Might also have a bad power valve. What is you idle at and timing. Do you have a vacume gauge?

With a carb you adjust idle RPM with it in gear (with brake set). Nice thing about FI is that it can easily adjust idle demands on the fly to maintain idle speed while a carb cannot.

Well, I did adjust the carb the proper way but that didn't help and plugging the fitting off didn't help either. But I did solve the problem. I went to put new plug wires on and found that the cap was messed up. Even with new cap and wires it still missed. So I thought about it and when you run something that isn't firing right you foul the plugs. So I went and installed new spark plugs. Still didn't want to run correctly. This is where I pondered on the subject while sitting in the truck, reving the engine. Hit the throttle and it would hesitate, really didn't have the miss anymore but still wouldn't run right. I went and bought a 37-119 holley carb kit and rebuilt the carb. Adjusted the floats, mixture and idle. Now it runs like new. I spent around $120 but some of that was for things to dress the engine up a little cleaner .... don't tell my wife that it all wasn't neccessary she'd be a little upset.

If float was out of adjustment it would cause it to go over rich at times at a idle and run ruff.
