its rally not a hard choice just go with the factory axle that came stock in a 4wd dually, the infamous Dana 60  or heck if you want to go stronger but more custom/work get an aam 9.25 out of a late model ram and put some locking hubs on it.....but then the pig is on the wrong side so your gonna need diff t case, so its probabley best to stick with the chevy dana 60......

This will not be easy because it is a 2wd and that year in 4x4 did not have a straight axle either. Best way to attempt this is to study a factory 4x4 version and note frame/cross member changes in front on 2wd vs 4wd. Yo need to change this with bone yard donor parts. Also look at tranny cross member and mounting as that is going to have to change too (really a complete 4x4 dualie donor truck would be good to have for all these parts and Tcase) Them when you do the ground work you can get a after market kit to swap a solid axle under it but you want a D50 or D60 from a Ford SD as pumpkin is on drivers side where it needs to be with Tcase used that model year (BTW, stock 93 Tcase BW not a NP one) You do not want a 95 to 2002 Dodge D60 because they have that nasty hub bearing design and a weaker notched axle housing (near pig on passenger side)

ohh......im sorry i was under the impression the truck was a 76......, so in this case you want like previously mentioned a ford dana 50 or 60 or a late model ram 03 and newer aam 9.25 axle but your gonna wan't to put some lockout hubs on it, get a transmission that was originaly 4wd so you probabley want a th400 coupled to a latemode borg wagner t case, unless you go with an electronic 4l80e tranny.... if you use an axle with the pig on the drivers side other wise if you use a chevy d60 with pig on passenger side you need an older model np case, like a 205 or 208....then ur gonna need to modify/fab a t case crossmember, and while your at it strengten up the frame wherever you feel its needed.........

A 93 would have had a 4L80E in it std for a automatic 2wd or 4wd.

I am thinking of doing this same thing to my 1994 C3500.....so if i get a chevy dana 60 i need to get a 205 or a 208 tcase and it will all bolt up aside from welding a new cross member?
