I have an 81 CJ-7. I am changing out the stock Dana 30 front and AMC 20 rear with Dana 60's. I just bought new tires and wheels for my jeep. 36" TSL/SX on 15" bead locks. Is it possible to change a Dana 60 to a five lug bolt pattern and clear a 15" wheel. I have been told it is possible but have had no luck at finding spindles or axels to change out. Any ideas or answers would be great.

Dynatrac has the kits to change to five lug. Go to there site (dynatrac.com). It is expensive though.

Yup, Dynatrac or sell your wheels and get 8 lug wheels.

The one thing to think about is that 15" wheels won't clear your brakes on a Dana 60. I would suggest to just get new wheels and tires on a 16" or 16.5" wheel. It sucks, since you just bought the new tires, but you have to sacrifice on somethings to gain in others.

You could simply search body yard for a old Dodge/Plymouth car of late mid 60 to mid 70's that had a big block as many had D60 SF rear axles with your 5 lug hubs. THey were used behind 440's 426's some 383's and some 340's. Dodge also used a D60 in some 1/2 ton P/U's over the years. Many do not realize that there was a lot of non FF 6 lug D60 made in years past.

I think there are a few ways of going about this, but rather than tell you to do something that is rather backwoods, or fine that one gem in a pile of crap, I would suggest to go the route that alot of people go, and either build your axle to fit your needs, based on new axles w/ your bolt pattern, new brakes that fit your wheels, or change your wheel/tire combo. It sucks, but I think you jumped the gun on buying your wheels and tires. Just remember that if you do get brakes to fit in your wheels, now your limiting your stopping abilities turning that much rubber. At least upgrade to 4wheel disc brakes.
