I have had my 59 willys cj5 about 10 years.  this last summer i had both the engine and trany go out.  i deside to do some upgrading rather than rebuild since the engine was not stock anyway.  i found a 85 s10 blazer with a good engine and trans for very cheap. ($300)
Now i am try do deside on whether to put the engine and trans into the 59 jeep frame and body..Or put the jeep body and axles on the s10 frame.. Note that i have already broke the jeep frame in half 3 times.

Please let me know what ideas you my have i am not sure what i want to do.  any advise is great.  just say what you might do in my shoes.
thanks

junk them both and get a blazer with a tbi 4.3l and then put your axles under the s-10

the 85 s10 has the 2.8 it is weak and under powered. its not a bad motor its reliable but doesn't have the power to do a whole lot. i have an 86 s15 jimmy with the 2.8 and im going to do a 4.3 swap hopefully the vortec.

If I had a 59 (which is getting real rare) Last thing I would do is cut it up and marry is with a S10. You have a real Jeep and I would rebuild it as such.

If it was me I would cut the fenders on the Blaz and beat it has a 4x4 with little muds and slowly rebuild the cj5.Also theres no way the frame from the cj would fit the blaz with out cutting the roof off and sectioning the body.

Also at a point I had a 60s jeep with the Buick engine in it.The frame was twecked, the tub rotted and it was blue with no top.Only three tires held air over a week and all I did was bondo the big holes in the tube, painted it flat black and wired up the old exhaust with a glass pack I found on the road and then beat on it for three months until a hub went out then sold it for the same $50 I got it for.
This all happed last year so you can still find deals out there.
It was cheap fun and the thing didnt go to the scrap yard to end up making micro waves.
