I know I need a lot of lift and Boggers. Would I really need  a solid axle?

It all depends. The 60s and 70s trucks had big blocks and solid axels. The 80s to mid 90s had ttb(I like them) and the newer ones have true IFS.If you looking for a cheap one look at the 87-91 models. They have ether 8.8 0r 9 onch rear axels and ttb in the front. You could also get a granny geared 4-speed with v-8s.After that I think all you could get with the 4-speed is the 300-6. There the pretty cheap to lift a few inchs(add a leafs and 350 or super duty shock mounts)Sure they suck the gas but all the full size trucks do. If your looking for a cheap truck to play with find one, take the bed off cut the front fenders and do the above mentioned modes to it and you can fit 35-38inch tall tires. The 97-03 models have less rust but are harder to lift and dont offer low rear ratios(3.55:1)

1989 150(200k) 33 inch hawgs and a blown 302.
1995 Pathfinder(178k)and still going with 31s.
Bikes.
2004 Yamaha TTR 225,barly used.
Kawasaki 750 (26k) Not ran right since carbs rebuilt.
!972 Yamaha mini enduro. The niceest one I've ever seen thats never been painted.

i agree with finder on this only i would extend the year range from 80 to 95 as they all have there ups and downs.

Also theres the 78s and 79s whos main advantage is a solid front end

Again snoman we have been over this many times, THERES NOTHING WRONG WITH TTB.

mnyman92, unless you go with a leveling kit, you need to get some brackets that lower your mounting points for the axle. the plus side to the ttb is they're easy to convert to a solid if you want. check out broncograveyard.com they have everything for ford trucks and a bronco. everything...  do you have a truck right now or are you looking to buy?

i believe so. is it an AOD tranny? converting is kinda a long project it would be wise to get a donor truck. or to buy a 4x4. i personally never attemped a conversion.

hard to say but i looked in my book and my geuss is that its an e4od, and thats what my trucks gear indicator looks like. your options with a 2wd tranny to convert to 4wd are swap tranny, get a divorced case. though im sure some one makes an adaptor or swapping output shafts. i'll look around. but you should be able to pick up a used e4od for cheap

Thanks you can email me at mnyman92@gmail.com if you find something. The main reason I want to keep this truck is because I got it for almost free w/ 150,000 miles on it!!!and it runs great, also I checked out broncograveyard.com, I think I have a new favorite website

i just looked it up on the web and found a result that you can change a 2wd to 4wd by replacing the tail shaft and the out put shaft with that of a 4wd. thats what i read so i wont take any blame if it dont work out
