How much do you think a junkyard would charge for a 4x4 E4OD? or do you think I would get a better deal from somewhere else? Also I don't know where he found his info.

Well that's really hard to say.It all depends on the 'yard. But if it was me I wouldnt spend more then $300 on the entire thing out of the 'yard. Also if you could find a parts truck that would probly be best.Since you get every thing you need. Also searce you local trader paper(trading times...)They will have stuff in them for you truck almost every issue.

Well I have seen a 76 k20 run a 33s one day and 38s the next and get better milage with the 38s but that was a 454 bb with 4.10 gears and a th400 tranny.I dont plan on running any thing bigger then 35s(probly 33s) on my '89.Buts thats just me.It really depends on the gearing you have and how far you drive. If your looking at small tires(30-2s) then I would go witha tire thats called Road Runner APT. I have a set on my pathfinder and I wouldnt trade them for any thing. They last for ever and offer a decent A/T tread. But if your looking for a 33-35 inch tire I would go with a BFG A/T.But these are DD tires.Thats why I'm naming A/Ts.But the Timberland and BFG M/Ts are also good. And maxxis are cheaper M/TS(not sure on life as a dd though). But for the best deal I would look at the Road Runners or Bfgs. They last a long time.

I'm looking for 37-40 inch tires with matching. On 4wheelparts.com they have a big graph that shows tires and gear ratios. All you have to do is click on tires and then on gear ratios. I do wonder how maxxis tires are on durability? I have them on my atv and have great wear and traction.

Then go with the Bfg M/t tires in that range.Or dare I say it the new super swamper M16 .... Pro comp tires are good in that range to.Also look at the old mickey thompson baja belted radial. There are a pretty heavy duty tire.

I would suggest the BF Goodrich A/T for the best highway mileage. For the mud I would go with Super Swamper Boggers or even the new SSR. I just put new ones on my tuck and they are a very impressive tire! As for the size, the bigger you go the rougher the ride and I don't think they last as long. So that all depends on what you need and what the vehicle is being used for and its capabilities.

My brother runs 36's with a Vortec 4.3 in his S-10 with 4.88 gears and a 700R4 tranny and is just fine. That is smaller than a 300ci. But then again that's a Chevy for ya

Maybe I'm crazy, I probobly should go 35s. there aren't many big rocks or mud holes where I live, but I want something that gets good traction in muddy trails and great traction in the winter. Maybe all-terrain tires are best for me. So what's the best 35" DD tire? Is it the truxs mt, the BFG km2, super swamper m-16, or is it the TSL SSR? And what is the "timberland." Also the 300-6 has way more torque than a 302-8.

The 4.3 is a good motor(350 with 2 less cylinders) but the 300 just isnt known for high hp.Great tourqe and decent milage.I was just wondering.

From what my brother says about his BFG KM2 35's on his '50 Chevy is that they are alot better than the older KM's and they seem to wear nice too. He just put them on about 10 months ago but hasn't drove it only 5,000 miles or so due to him in the Marines, but he loves them!

I would be happy with the bfg for milage. The truxs mt and tsl would suck on ice like all mts.The timberland is made by Dayton tire company. There a A/T.And I was thinking that maybe you where going to run a 347,351,or 460 with those big tires on the street.
