Oh no...looks like you little chevy got a boo-boo . Bushs have been known to attack with out being provoked. A 72 chevy I'd would have got that instead of the 'san any day. Thats one of the few trucks I'd like to own some day. After my futher 69 blazer with a 396 in it,and my 68 k10 witha high winding 283 and boggers.Ohh but those will have to wait...no money and its to cold to do any thing with my current trucks.Hows that k20 of yours run with the 402.My buddy has a flat bed 80s chev with a 71 chevelle ss 396(i know there 402s after 69).But he has little 285s on it at the moment.
Dying ain't much of a livin' From my favorite movie. Trucks... 1989 150(200k) 33 inch hawgs and a blown 302. 1995 Pathfinder(178k)and still going with 31s. Bikes. 2004 Yamaha TTR 225,barly used. Kawasaki 750 (26k) Not ran right since carbs rebuilt. !972 Yamaha mini enduro. The niceest one I've ever seen thats never been painted. New 2002 f150,fx4,5.4v8,after market tranny coolers and unirol tires.

Let me tell you, I know all about them attacking bushes. That was a close call. The 402 in my K20 is getting tired. Its got about 175,000 miles on it now. I put most of those miles on it in 2 years. I was going to put a TBI454 in it but I have to pass that up for now. I'm trying to get my 91 Chev finished before I rebuild the 402 or swap in something else. I was going to put a 4.3 in it because its only going to be offroad only after my 91 is put together. Well I tossed that idea and hunting for another BBC. I just like them gas hogs. I have wore out two sets of tires on that truck and rebuilt the front end (new joints, bearings, seals) twice also. I am still waiting for that 1Ton Crew Cab Chevy to appear in my driveway. I already have enough projects as it is, but why not add one more to it.

A 4.3 in a classic...I thought you new better then to even think that.Well whats this 91 I'm hearing about. Are you keeping stuff from me the I dont know about . .If I was doing it I would rebuild the 402 and put a shot of spray on it( ) but not one of the dumb ones.Like 200hp or what ever.Ya engine would go zoom-zoom Ka-BOOM.And you end up witha lot of little paper weights.

I can't really build a truck with Nos. It is overrated anyway. I'd use a 8-71 blower before NOS. I am only going to build my 74 for the rocks. I don't need the spray in low range. As for my 91, its a C2500 with a 454/4L80E. I just got the trans rebuilt but its an 04, I have a NP241 t-case I'm using, just got it put together today, I have a 10bolt front axle for the SAC. I still need to go through it and regear it. I hope to have it all done by Easter for MOAB! This includes all the work on my 74 too.

Its over rated if its not set up right. But it is the most bang for the buck perfomance part.A blower would be neat on the 20. The 20 for rocks... bye,bye sheet metal. I'll miss you

The reason for not going NOS is my truck is not a street legal pot-hole pounder. If I wanted to go with NOS, I wouldn't have lifted it so much if any at all and I'd rather use NOS for a 69 RS/SS Camaro. I still don't think I'd use it for that. I'd go with a blower before I"d use NOS any day. My K20 will be fine in the rocks. As long as I can keep the thing from tipping on its side or going endo the body should still look the same. I am planning on cutting the frame to a 100" wheelbase. I will fit the bed to the wheelbase also. I am toying with the idea of dovetailing the front and rear but not sure yet. I still like the idea of having the challenges the way they are. I might have to wait til next year for that anyway. I keep changing everything on my projects. I just figure out other designs that will work better than the ones before.

I agree with you on the blower. Why not find a blazer and putting a pick up cab on it with a mini-mini bed? I just like the way your truck looks and am tired of seeing old full sizes cut up .Thats all.

I have so much body work to do to the 74 it isn't funny. I will eventually find another one but a crew cab next go round. As for the Blazer frames, the rear sections don't work that good because of the way the frame is shaped. I already built a 78 this same way that worked out sweet and I figured I try it with the 74. No worries, I am going to cut the bed and fit it so it looks nice. If I end up smashin it, sorry. Its all part of the fun. I don't go out on a trail and see how much damage I can get, in fact, the same trail I was on where I got the front fender damage, I was on it about 2 months before that with open diffs and went up to the waterfall at the end of the trail. I had a few spots where it was literally a squeeze but the only damage I got then was the left gas tank was dented. It was either that or tear my exhaust tips off. I'd go with the dent in my tank anyday. I only lost about a half gal. or less but that don't hurt the 85 gal. capacity with all three tanks. Like I stated before in another thread, it was built to tow my trailer and I don't like to stop for gas. I could go from Salt Lake City, Utah to Las Vegas, Nevada with my trailer and back to Cedar City, Utah and get gas there.

Heck, I don't know what I want to do with it yet. I can't give it away and I would kick myself in the head if I could reach if I sold it period. I need to pull the right side hub apart and find out why it wasn't locking in yesterday when I moved it. I had the rear driveline out and used the front to move it and the left side was all that would work. I just installed new hubs before my last wheelin trip and they worked just fine then. So I need to check that out. I also need to get some measurements of where I'm gonna cut the frame and bob the rear. Then start that project so I'm closer to getting it done and do a trail run to make sure it all works before Moab. Hopefully I can get it all done before then or I won't be going

If the 20s not done by then why not take the new one? I'm sure the 10 bolt or Ifs(what evers in it by then) will live you for it.

My new one is only a 2WD at the moment and I really don't plan on trying to ruin the new truck when its being built for towing. I have airbags going in it soon and a gooseneck hitch. I'd tear the front IFS out from under the truck as it is right now, its the weakest design. It has such a bad angle on the tierod that is scares me to think of any suspension drop at all! How that thing even passes the DOT test amazes me. That is mostly the reason for the SAC, to get 4WD and to have more stabilty with the leaf springs. It has the FabTech 7.5 inch lift with coilover shock setup and I dont really understand how anyone would be happy with it. The front tires stick out more than any other lift brand and it rides ok but could be better.
