Ok, i'm between and a rock and a hard place here. I'm deff a ford guy, and that's what i'm gonna buy, no exceptions. But idk what ford to buy. I have it narrowed down to a 4.0 ranger wit a 5 speed. Or a 97-03 f150 either supercab or supercrew. I need some pros and cons to each truck to help me out. Thanks, I do need the truck to be a daily driver, but be able to do some decent stuff offroad, nothin extreme.

It's really about what you want or need. If you plan on going into tight places then the ranger is better, but if you plan on hauling anything then the f150 is better. It's all about personal preferences. CHEVYS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i agree wit u on chevy's suck, i wouldnt take one if it was given to me, well i would, then i'd trade it on a ford. But my main concern is an f150 being too big, i know rangers are smaller, but is it that big of a difference between the two trucks. My dad has an f150 and i love it, but my buddy has a ranger, and it's sweet too. I would prefer an f150 over the ranger, basicly, do u guys think the size difference is as big of a deal as people make it out to be? are there really places u can get a ranger that u can't get an f150 into.

because a ranger is smaller it doesn't take as much thinking to get it around obstacles. you can get a ranger through trees easier to. I myself am a f-series guy. Also ranger parts are smaller and should be cheaper. f150s are more heavy duty and should last longer. F150s can get bigger tires for less lift and body mods. now if your talking about wheelbase it is pretty obvious.

The ranger parts are not cheap!!!!Maybe the ones from the 80s because there ttb. Also the ranger will get about the same milage as the 150 if you go 55-60.19-21 miles to the gallon.above that they both suck the go juice. If it was me I would get another 2000 standered cab f-150 4x4 with a 5-speed and the little v-6(205hp&4400rpm And 255ftlb of torqe at 3000) With this combo they can bet 4.6s with autos. And with the money you saveed from not getting a V-8 you can get a intake and better flowing exhaust to perk the little six up some more. All of the 150s came with a gear ratio of 3.55:1.But the short bed sixs came with little 235/70 tires stock. The long wheel base models(long beds) came with 255s.At least on the 97 models they did.

Kawasaki 750 (26k) Not ran right since carbs rebuilt. !972 Yamaha mini enduro. The niceest one I've ever seen thats never been painted. New 2002 f150,fx4,5.4v8,after market tranny coolers and unirol tires.

yea i know a ranger has a shorter wheelbase, which makes it harder to saddelbag. But, like i said before, is it really as big of a difference as people make it out to be? is it really that much easier to high-center an f150 than a ranger?

No I dont believe it is.Its(150)longer wheel base helps it on taller Stuff(ditchs snow banks etc.)then the rangers because by the time the rangers in it the 150 should still(thanks to its longer wheel base) have the theback end on solid stuff.Helping it push the front end witch is pulling and digging (searcing) for solid ground. But the mega(what ever) cab 150s have less ground clearance then the stander cab 150s and that hurts in climbing stuff. Its easer to high center.

i would go with the 150 though i like the older body style better. the ranger can be made into a capable rig but just throw some decent tires under the 150 and it will do decent off road and still run great on road

I'm not that sure that you can get 35s on it.Maybe with a off set or the wheels of with fender flares and triming. But like I said I'm not 100% sure.

Well i wanted to put 35x12.50 cepek mud countries mounted on 16x10 pro comp series 97 black rims. I think i'd be able to squeeze 35s on it, might have to trim the fenders a little though, and i plan on puttin a 4 inch suspension lift on it next fall after i have some money

I have one of each. The F-150 is my DD and the Ranger is my Off-Road toy. Take it for what it's worth.
Is it going to be more a DD or more a toy?

it's gonna be more of a dd, but i'm only 17 wit limited income, i can't afford insurance, liscnesing, and maintenance on two vehicles right now. I'm gonna go wit the f150, just for the versatility, i dont need as much modification to get it up in the air, and i can still hook our 14ft trailer wit three atvs on the back if i need to. Plus, i wouldn't have it on super tight trails anyway, i was just more worried about high centering it. But it still shouldn't be a big issue.
