This is how we paint the Sprint cars and Golf carts. This should work for our for our mudders too.
Power wash top and bottom
Wash with Dawn dish washing liquid, no scents, no lotions, (Oils)
Dry and clean with a wax and grease remover, dry with a paper towel as you clean. Important don't let it dry on body panels
Sand to 220 grit
Reclean, then use flexible bumper repair, (Mudders use regular fillers), to fill in scatches and dents
Clean with wax and grease remover
Use the Urethane paints they are more flexible than enamels
Use a flex additive to all your paints including your primer
I sponsered a JR Sprint car for 2 years and we had cars get their tires into the tail panel and the paint held up.
Dupont primer, PPG Pearl and House of Kolor clear.
We repainted both years because of minor rock chips, I mean minor, and scratches. It was advertisement for my shop.
I would charge $1500 to do another JR Sprint with a wing. It was for a young lady, her car was pearl pink with three black rips going up the hood, pinstriped in silver. We get $600 for a Harley.
We painted the bottom of the panels black.
We have used this method to paint 2 golf carts, candy red over silver marble and candy orientle blue over silver marble. The blue was cool but the red was so rich it was sic. Both carts were covered when not used but stayed outside at the campground all summer with no problems. I won't do another golf cart for less than $1500. The guy that owned it, my neighbor took off three rubber mats for the golf clubs and we had to fill like 30 holes from the back first with putty and screen and then the front side. Keep in mind it's like $35-$50 a quart for paint now. Black base, silver marble, candy red and clear.
We're prepping a red Rincon for a black base with True Fire, the frame is orange and the flames will go red to orange and yellow. I've paid 2 imagehost only to find out that they don't allow imagelinks. If I can I will post sum pics. Peace The Roadrunner... P2D Paint by 2 Dazed
