I have a 2000 Dakota with a 3" body lift and 33" tires and when i turn the wheels to lock or flex the suspension with the wheels turned they rub on the back part of my fender...right where the pinch weld runs up to the wheel well.  I've been reluctant to cut this corner for fear that cutting this corner will compromise the structure of the body/pinch weld.  Has anyone cut there dak fenders or been in a similar situation?

I ran into the same issue you had with my '01 2500 Cummins tow rig.  I am only running a 3" leveling coil on the front and had plenty of room for the old 35's I was running.  But when I got my new 12 bolt H-1s with the 36" Goodyears on them I ran into a little bit of rubbing... ok.. a lot of rubbing!  Even when sitting on flat ground and turning the wheel almost to lock.  You can see in the first picture where they were rubbing on the fenderwells.  So instead of lifting the truck higher (complications with the gooseneck hitting the bedsides if I did so), I decided to trim the fenderwell.  I did this in one day on a weekend... Cut the fenders, made templates, cut the steel plate, welded it up, and painted with bedliner for protection.  It came out great and I could actually fit a 38" tire now if I wanted to do so (that takes into account compression and turning too!!)!!  This was a very easy modification and since I took out approximately 2" of the body there it didn't even get into the floor boards!  Now with that plate there the fenders are just as strong as they were before with the factory pinch welds, but since they are welded to the body it would make body work a little difficult.
Hope that helps you out a little.. if you have more questions, feel free to e-mail me at turbosniper1@yahoo.com
Have a good one and good luck!
Matt
