My 1986 1/2-ton 4-wheel Suburban has a worn-out 350. Can get a 500 Cadillac motor fairly cheap. Any ideas on what will make it work, or is it even a good idea? I like the idea of a more powerful motor. Any help will be appreciated.

That sounds like a fun swap!
You'll need custom motor mounts and tranny mounts. Plus any electronics that may be associated with the Caddy motor (if any) and then stick it in! Should be fairly easy in that year Burb.
What trans is in it now and what trans came behind the 500?

I put a 500 Cad in my Chev short box. It wasn't too much trouble. You will have to make a adjustment on the drivers side for the valve cover to clear. Again not too bad. I liked the swap, but did miss the revs of the Chevy. The Caddy just does not rev without help but does it ever have tons of tork.

The 700r will help in down the road easier than my 400 and 411 gears.
