Like in the subject I described my truck. I am having a proble w steering that just came about. I have a leveling kit that almost levels my truck but with the extra springs in rear tha ass still sticks up higher. I am running 35x12.50x17 KMs. the problem is and it just started , is when I am driving say 55mph and come across a hole or railroad track, my steering goes to hell and the tires wobble till I slow down. I took the truck today to my alignment guy and he checked it out and said that everything was fine but i needed to upgrade steering stabilizers. I ordered a replacement rancho, I havent put it on but is there anything else  i could try?

You need to check you toe in and caster. Stock alignment specs are for stock tires and suspension. When you modify this you need to tweak alignment too. Toe is critical with big tires and you want about 1/32 inch toe in max. (shoot for around 1/64 to 1/32) Also if you do not have enough positive caster (top of axle tipped toward back of truck for perpendicular to ground) the axle can become unstable when bumped. Stabilizers just mask the problem somewhat and are not a cure. You want about 4 to 5 degrees of positive caster here.

As another Dodge Forum says, sounds like the death wobble. There is an upgraded steering system availible from Dodge that is on their 08 2500&3500 4x4 trucks. The new steering system is on TSB#22-005-06 for 03-07 2500&3500 4x4 trucks. Hope this helps.

Death wobble is usually the result of improper toe and caster. Stabilizers treat the symptoms but not the cause.

I have had the same problem with my 03 dodge. Is your 17" wheel 8.5 wide? I put some 17x12.50 35" tires on mine and it started doing it.  I have a set of twenty inch wheels wrapped with 36x15.50 and never had the death wobble. My truck has been in three differnt shops. I have had ball joints, wheel bearing, and stablizer shocks replaced and it still does it. I just a a forum that dodge took two trucks that where the same one with 17x8.5 Steel wheeles and one with aluminum wheels of the same size. The truck with the Steel wheels had DW. They Swapped wheels and put aluminum on the one that had steel wheels and it went away. I am going to put my other wheels back on to be sure that is the problem I will let ya know. I have a friend that has done to his truck what is to yours same problem he pulled the leveling kit off and it fixed it. I have two sets of 17x8.5 wheels and they both do the DW. I hope this helps.
