Why would you want to convert an engine that runs well with the fuel system for which it was designed? Good power for a 4cyl and good gas milage. going backwards to a carb like the 2.3 had will loose you powere unless you cam it up. then gas milage will go down. If for some reason you are serious about the carb, then go to salvage yard and get all the "carb crap" of an older 2.3 and have fun. Possibly you could just get the intake and install a better than stock carb. I would look into aftermarket intakes and carbs before I even thought about this.
