i just bought a 2000 dodge ram 2500 with a 5.9 cummins diesel, it was a repo vehicle and i only paid a grand for it, hellof a deal i know. but it doesn't start, have verified the lift pump is pushing fuel as far as the filter located on the side of the engine, when you turn the key on lift pump runs for up to 10 seconds and shuts off, when you turn the key off it runs sometimes for up to 45 seconds, to me it sounds a little funny but it will overflow the fuel filter housing in no time if you don't hav ethe filter in, the fuel gauge doesn't work just like every other dodge i've ever been in, i put ten gallons in it, don't know if there was any in it before, whats the best way of tryin to bleed the system in the event that the injector pump is still good?

Sounds like injectors. But maybe try posting at diselpowermag.com they would know.

it wouldn't be six injectors all at once, i have been working at bleeding out the injector pump, still don't know if its putting enough pressure out so it most likely injector pump failure, vp44's are known to fail. but it looks as though the only way to bleed it is to remove fuel lines from the individual injectors and crank it until the air is bled out
