Hello
I have been reading your magazine for years now, but I am looking at getting my first 4x4. I want it to be trail ready and must handle canadain winters. I was going to get a jeep but I am not sure now if that is a good idea with all the auto maker stuff. So should I stay with the jeep or should I look at getting something like a Ford that might be around longer. I need it to be reasonably good on gas and great on the trail. Also have available parts for it. Not sure what to get, any suggestions on the matter would help.
Thanks
Zach

well if you are ify about a jeep then i would deffanatly look into a late model toyota like a 84 or 85 you can do lots with them and they have started right up with a foot and a half of snow on the top and it pulled rite out of were i parked and i had 33's mud terrains on it with a 4 in' suspention and a 2 in' body lift it went everywere and ran great

Are you looking for new or used? How old? If it's new and you want a Ford you can't go wrong with a Ranger FX4, or if you want used I'd vote for a Jeep Cherokee, that seems to be almost exactly what you want.

Well I would look at getting an older chevy / gmc for your first 4x4 parts are everywhere aftermarket and used cheaper than most makes.Easy to work on and are all around great trucks. blazer or pickup Alot depends on what you plan on doing with your 4x4 but you cant go wrong with an old chevy / gmc

The XJ would be the one. Plenty of parts out there and they are a all around wheeling rig.
