I know all the Ford guys and the Chevy guys are going to hate this question, but you try to make do with what you have, right. I have a Lincoln Continental with a 460 that runs like a striped ape and a 1986 Chevy Suburban with a tired-out 350. What's involved, or can it be done, in putting the 460 in the 'burb? Thanks for any help.

youd have to put a ford transmission in it and then if the burb is 4x4 your gonna have to put a ford axle in the diff off sets on the opposite sides it probably wount be worth it

there are 2 easy ways to put the ford 460 in the chevy,
1 is to run a manual trans,
the ford items needed would be the flywheel, pressure plate and bellhousing,
the chevy items you need chevy 12" clutch disk (or have a custom one made), trans and rest of the drivetrain,
Custom mounts, exaust, and piolate bearing.
the second is to use a quick change plate for a stockcar which mounts to the frame and you bolt the trans to from one side and the motor from the other, this will need a custom flywheel or flexplate (Depending on tranny you choose to run) exaust and other mis items
I looked into doing a similar swap in my 83 3/4 ton but to a Pre-powerstroke 7.2l diesel, the first option is the one I would personally be using being as I have the manual trans in the truck already and have spoken to Clutch Masters about the clutch issues I may incounter, I know this works in reverse because a friend and I mated a a 355ci chevy to a ford manual trans and 205 to keep the trans and t-case he wanted in his jeep
if it ain't dirty, you ain't doing it rite, RNC club motto
