Ahoy.

So I finally was able to take my truck to the lake and I am impressed with what it is capable of.

While making our way back from the lake my truck started making a nocking noise and it seems to be coming from the front drivers side. I can feel something nocking the floorboard to the left or the brake pedal but when I looked under the truck i dont see anything loose and the shock is firmly attatched. Also, the suspension seems to be a little "squishy" (not my words, lol) Any ideas what could be the issue?

Next issue is that the truck runs a bit hot. It seems to warm up when it idle and the needle quickly moves over the half way point on the gauge. Im wondering if its just a simple thermostat issue or something else.

Thanks

Did you check the closest body mount? What kind of truck? Temp might just be a high temp thermostat, get a lower temp rating. Also check flow in radiator.

Thanks for the tips about the cooling issues. Ill look into it. It mostly happens when sitting at idle for a while, such as in a drive thru.

As for the nocking noise I looked closer and found that one of the bolts that hold the tranfer case in place is missing. I only see 1 bolt holding it in but Im guessing that its loose also. The only thing holding it in place is 1 bolt and that support bar coming from the engine. Scary, Ive been driving it like this for weeks now.

Im going to post pics of my bucket in the main forum.

Thanks guys

About the cooling issue.  If it only gets hot when the truck is not moving, it sounds like an air flow problem.  Has the fan ever been replaced?  Like with a flex fan.  I have heard of cooling issues with certain flex fans.  If it is the origonal clucth fan, check the friction.  If it spins real easy the cluch fan needs to be replaced.  Another thing to look at is the condition of the shroud.  Is it there and is it broken or all there?  Minor pieces missing from the shroud should not be much of an issue.  Look inside the radiator.  If it is corroded and restricting the cooling tubes, it can get hot at idle and still seamingly cool ok at higher speeds.  Same goes for coolant level.
