I have a 74 chev long box with a 350, T350 tranny, and a NP208.  It has 38" TSL's.  I am looking to upgrade to a gear-driven transfer case.  I found a Dana 20 on a 3 spd tranny out of a blazer (I think)at a scrap yard.  My question is will I need an adapter kit to mate these together or are the splines the same.  I am new to 4 wheeling and am just looking to upgrade for some strength. Any ideas are welcome.

Oh BTW  I am also looking at putting in a balanced and blueprinted 396 down the line.

A Dana 20 isn't much of an upgrade from your 208.  Yes it's cast iron and gear driven, but with the proper skid plate and an upgraded chain, the Np208 will be able to take just as much (or more) power and abuse and will have a better crawl ratio.  Besides, the Dana 20 will need to be adapted to fit with the TH350.
