I have a 2005 jeep grand cherokee....engine is the 5.7L hemi...having an issue over the past 2 days.....the transmission kicks itself into 3rd and stays there.  If I leave it for an hour or so it will go back to drive but after driving for a short distance...ie 3 or 4 miles it goes back into 3rd....reverse is ok....any thoughts would be appreciated!!  thanks

iT'S SAD THAT AFTER 204 VIEWS AND 2 MONTHS NO ONE HAS REPLYED. Moderator must be asleep at the wheel!
If you haven't fixed it yet, you might check the shift gov. The slightest wear will cause problems staying in gear especialy 3rd. My TH350 had same problem, pulled the gov. and it had .02/100ths. wear on the shaft. I put a new one in and problem fixed. Good luck!
