Ok so this is my first 4X and also the first time deeling with a V8.

On the springs there are bolt on clamps on either end of the leaf springs. What are those for? I ask because one of them is broken.

Also, my truck has a superlift 4 inch lift and it does not use blocks. Is it normal to have a very bumpy ride? Every tiny imperfection in the road makes the truck rock back and forward. Pretty anoying.

LAst question for now, lol, I have a tach that Im trying to hook up and I need to hook a wire to the negative side of the coil. I have an accel hei distributer. How do I go about hooking the tach up to that?

Any and all help would be great!!

Welcome to the club!

"On the springs there are bolt on clamps on either end of the leaf springs. What are those for?"

They hold the springs together keeping them from separating or twisting. It's not a huge deal that one is missing. But if you have the means to replace it then do so when you get a chance.

" Is it normal to have a very bumpy ride?"

Yup. You have a big heavy leaf spring truck, it's going to ride that way. The only way to help it a little is with a quality shock.

"I have a tach that Im trying to hook up and I need to hook a wire to the negative side of the coil. I have an accel hei distributer."

Contact Accel and get the installation instructions. There will be a specific way to hook a tach on to their distributor and the best way to do it and not fry something is with their instructions.

Now, post some pictures!

Hey, thank you for the reply! I figured out the tach issue and its hooked up and working. It is clearly marked as to where the tach wire plugs in. Haha

As for the clamp things, I do have replacements (I tell you, this truck came with everything I could need) so Ill go ahead and swap it out.

And as for the ride, well that kinda sucks but Id rather have an all spring lift than use blocks. I have rancho rs500o shocks. What do you think of those for a 4 inch lift and 31 inch tires?

Thanks again!

Mine is a 74 k20, and has a 2.5 in. skyjacker leaf lift, and I am using rancho rs9000 adjustable shocks. They do a excellent job of settling the ride.

Well based on the condition of the boots my shocks are really old. Ill have to check out the 9000's, I was going to just buy 6 5000's and put 4 up front. Was going to try and keep things cheap because I only bought the truck for 600.

Thanks mang.
