Hi, i was just thinking about how cool it might be to see a 2wd build in the mag.
They are cheap to buy, lifts are cheap or better yet no lift and chop fenders/leveling springs. A regeared axle with locker wouldn't be a waste because you can keep it for a 4x4 project in the future. You could try and uses as much homegrown cheap ideas for better performance. You could also try out some treadwright tires in a real traction test being 2wd and keep costs down . The best part, if you destroy the truck, keep any of the good parts for a 4x4 project and recycle the rest. I just see this project as a good way to pass the ression by.

You only gave it a few hours... it takes days to piss people off.

I'll just say this... whats the name of the magazine? Petersen's 4-Wheel & Off-Road. Note the 4-Wheel part.

If you want to see 2wd tech pick up our sister publication Off-Road Magazine, they do 2wd stuff every month, infact it's mostly 2wd tech.

I do read Off Road Mag. and do hope to buy a place soon to start a 4x4 buggy project in the future. I am hoping to build up 2wd. just so I can us it to tow and still have something to play with in the mean time. We all saw how long it took Fred William's buggy and if I remember correctly JEEP Mag.'s Buggy project was about 2 years too; I am probly going to take my time building mine too.
I am really inspired by Don and Shannon Campbell's first jeeps that they built and Don's was showcased in your mag. back in 97. NICE and simply by today's standards. But hey, I am a welder and mechanic and I know from exp. that it can take a long time to construct something like, that is as nice as that since I am looking thru. the Pick'N'Pull for most of the major parts [axles, transfer case, etc.]
I had read LEGEREB forum on 2wd. offroading and though a cheap 2wd. build would be fun and cheap. Where I live, getting a running 2wd. for $500 isn't very hard. Heck, I got a low miles 1988 f-150 given to me for free.
But hey, I though I would suggest it and see what happen.
