I currently have a 90 gmc 3/4 ton with a 4 speed trans. I'm in the prosses of building a 377 chevy small block. And i was wondering which would be better for a mud truck a turbo charger or a super charger?

if your gonna be runnin in the higher rpm's then a turbo wld since it has to build boost but for off the line power a supercharger would be best. i figured for a mud truck you would build a 383 or 400 instead of a 377 most people build those for street/strip s10's its a high winding motor.

i had thought of a 383 first. but a 350 bored out would weakin the block cause you have to bore it out. i could also make 650-675 hp and about 800 something torque out of a 400 small block with out wicking the block. also a 383 is better for the strip just cause the weaker block and your not runnin high rpms for a long time like you would be in the mud. one more thing the turbo might suck up water, and the 3 inch belt might slip off the blower. thats my delima. but thanks for the input.

It would only be a .030" over bore. Unless the coolant side of your cylinders are very rusty that is safe. You get the big increase in displacement with the longer stroke. With your dilemma over a turbo or super charger, maybe consider NOS.
