im thinking of buying an 8in or higher lift for a 1983 k20. are there any mods i need to make to the driveshafts, t-case, or anything else?

That will make for some steep drive shaft angles.  What size tire are you going to run?  How about trimming fenders to fit bigger tires.

either 38x15 or 39x18 boggers. i dont want to hack up the body its in good shape and dont want to ruin it.

You'll want to swap out your 10-bolt front axle with a Dana 60 from a K30. That 10-bolt will be very short-lived with tires that size on it. The rear 14-bolt axle is fine however.

I suspect the rear driveshaft will be fine on that truck, but the front one you will need to check that it doesn't bind up at the t-case and that it has sufficient length (it may not).
