hey guys,

i need to pick your brains about my jeep project.  i have a question about the clutch in my 94 jeep grand cherokee.  i know that 94 g cherokees dont come in manuals but i converted mine with parts from an 88 cherokee.  i am having problems with my clutch.  everything els is good now but i cant get the clutch to disengage.  when the 88 cherokee was in tact the tranny worked great with no problems.  when i put it all together i quickly noticed that the clutch wouldnt disengage.  i dont know if maby the way the crank is that it makes the fly wheel closer to the clutch or what is going on.  i tried to bend the clutch pedal because i thought it was hitting the floor and limiting the movement.  that didnt solve the problem so i decided to take it to a shop.  the tranny guy scratching his head said lets try changing the master cylinder.  he proceded to change the mastercylinder with the same part from pep boys for the 88 jeep cherokee.  this made it shift much better and disengage the whole way but you had to push the pedal the whole way to the floor where the cylinder bottomed out.  if the floor mat was under the pedal it didnt disengage the whole way.  it was driveable, but not perfect.  i could live with this.  the pedal when totaly depressed bottomed out both the old and new cylinders.  after about a week with the new master cylinder the pedal changed and it moved about one or two inches befor you could feel any oil flow.  i think bottoming out ruined the master cylinder.  do you guys know where i could get a new master cylinder with more fluid flow to fit my app., or any other info to get my project out of this hole.   maby i need to get other clutch parts because the crank is slightly longer in the back.  maby your awsome tech guys have a trick to get a little bit more flow from a master cylinder for just such a situation.  i bled the thing a bunch and just cant figure it out.  if this could get fixed maby i will finish this thing with some tires and give you guys some nice picks.  i would love to have my jeep back.

o ya its a 94 grand.  i costomed a hideaway hitch/bumper reinfocement behind the bumper cover in back. i have added a 4 inch lift, manual pugeot tranny, and a sweet police spot light.  also a slip yoke eliminator kit.

thanks

93-94 came with the option . i have a 94 manual. it uses the ax 15 . i think an 88 used a weaker trans . that may not adapt exactly. you should try a 5 speed from a 94 and up . i dont know if the slaves will interchange. but my 94 grand slave is a little difern't than my 95 cherokee.  the hose is routed diferent, so if you can use it get the one for the grand. hope this help's
