My 16 year old son and I are wanting to build a good performance street 302 for his 95 Bronco (yes, rollcage already installed!). I've rebuilt several motors over the years, but they were all stock rebuilds and the last one was about 15 years ago. I possess the mechanical knowledge but not the "performance parts" knowledge to decide on what components to use. This will be used mostly for driving back and forth to school, but he may also do some minor off-roading. We will also be installing a 6" lift with 35" tires. any advice on where is a good source to help us decide what parts combination to use is appreciated? I have placed him on a $3,500 parts and machine work budget. The tear down and reassembly will be done by us in order for him to learn the mechanics.

$3,500 isn't much for a "performance" build.

I would do a nice cam, a set of headers, and maybe some better flowing heads and call it good.

What year engine? FI or Carb?
